Aix-en-Provence as a starting point

Aix-en-Provence is well placed for day trips across Provence. After exploring the historic centre on foot, a chauffeur can take you towards Sainte-Victoire, wine estates, the Luberon, the Alpilles or the Mediterranean coast.

A day in the Luberon

A first itinerary can combine Lourmarin, Bonnieux, Roussillon and Gordes. It is usually better to enjoy three or four carefully chosen stops than to rush through too many villages. In summer, an early departure also brings cooler temperatures and often a calmer atmosphere.

Lavender season

Lavender fields are seasonal and their appearance varies with altitude, weather and harvesting. Around Valensole, the most sought-after period is generally from late June into mid-July. A flexible route makes it easier to select worthwhile stops according to conditions on the day.

The Alpilles, Saint-Rémy and Les Baux

The Alpilles offer a different landscape, with Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Les Baux-de-Provence, olive groves and cultural sites. This area works well as a full day from Aix and can also be combined with Avignon when the schedule allows.

Cassis and the coast

Cassis is popular for its harbour, cliffs and access to the Calanques. Traffic and parking can be difficult in peak season. A pre-arranged drop-off and pick-up removes much of that inconvenience.
